It would be an exaggeration to say that there are as many ways to cook mushrooms as there are varieties of mushrooms—there are more than 10,000 types! But for our collection of mushroom recipes, we've focused on button (aka white) mushrooms and cremini, the most common. In supermarkets, you'll find at least a few more varieties—and if you go to a specialty shop or farmers market, you'll find many more.
Mushrooms are incredibly versatile and can be baked, sauteed, marinated, served uncooked, and so much more. Plus, they play well with a huge range of ingredients, from eggs and cheese to pasta, chicken, and greens.
We've covered every meal here, from sunup to sundown. And even if you or someone you're cooking for isn't a huge mushroom lover, there's something here to turn any mushroom naysayer into a fungi fan.
